The CHALLENGE

As one of Sparks’ core high schools since 1974, Edward C. Reed High School faced aging infrastructure in its two primary gymnasiums. The spaces were outdated and deteriorating, failing to meet the standards required for a modern athletic environment. Washoe County School District needed a full renovation completed on a compressed timeline—under strict abatement regulations and within the building’s existing footprint. The project also required supporting growing athletic programs and accommodating large groups of spectators.

The Strategy

Reyman Brothers Construction developed a transparent and efficient project roadmap that focused on early coordination, material procurement, and speed-to-execution without compromising quality.

Key Project Steps:

• Preconstruction & Debrief:
  Internal team kickoff, WCSD preconstruction meetings, and subcontractor scheduling.
  
• Material Planning:
  Early ordering of sports flooring, bleacher systems, and underlayment.
  
• Execution:
  • Abatement and demolition of two existing gym floors and bleachers
  • Installation of high-performance sports flooring and new bleacher packages
  • Interior finish upgrades, including paint and wall treatments
